Michael Washington, human resources manager for Wal-Mart Inc., one of the largest global retail corporations, will join the list of notable executive speakers at SC State University.?

Washington will speak on the topic: ?Communications from a Business Perspective,? on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at noon in Belcher Hall?s fourth floor auditorium.

Washington works in the area of logistics transportation as the Southeast Regional Operations Center Human Resources Manager which includes the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. He has been an employee of Wal-Mart for the past 11 years.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Washington retired from the United States Air Force in 2000. He obtained his Associates of Science degree in Information Systems Management at the Community College of the Air Force. He later completed his bachelors of Social Work degree at the University of North Carolina and a Master?s of Science Degree in human resources from Troy University.

Washington and his wife, Carolyn, are parents to four children and three grandchildren.
